What You Need?
Materials
mortar, spacer, grout, a new tile
Tools
hammer, cold chisel, notched trowel, rubber mallet, rubber grout float, sponge, pointing trowel, spatula, screwdriver, level, bucket, safety glasses, safety gloves, sponge
Steps
1.
Cracked tile: Our tiles may damage within time due to heavy hits.
2.
Breaking the tile: Let’s break the tile using a cold chisel and a hammer (We should be careful not to damage the surrounding tiles). We advise for all to wear safey glasses during this procedure.
3.
Taking out the tile: Let’s now take out the broken tile.
4.
Cleaning the surface: We should clean the remains on the surface using a spatula and a hammer.
5.
Spreading mortar: We should spread the mortar on the back of our new tile using a notched trowel.
6.
Putting the tile on: Let’s push the tile into the wall for it to firmly settle on. Then we should knock it using a rubber mallet. After the tile is settled on the wall let’s place the spacers in between the tile joints. Then we should check if there is any existing slopes between the broken tile and the other tiles by measuring with a level. Once the mortar dries (Drying time is 24 hours), let’s take out the spacers using a regular screwdriver or any other pointy ended object. Then we should wipe the area with a dry cloth, and fill the tile joints with the prepared grout diagonally in sweeping motions using a rubber grout float. When the grout is dry we should clean the surface using a wet sponge.
